Sinatra was the greatest singer of the great american songwriters, ever.

Culturally the majority of these songwriters were jews fleeing their homelands to start a new life in New England. Without looking it up, can you tell me off the top of your head, who wrote the Christmas song, White Christmas ?

Hi Joss, me again. To reflect a little more on the "religion/nonreligion" theme. I have gained more help at times of emotional stress in my life, from the writings of Rudyard Kipling than from the Bible. I found "The Answer" and " A Pilgrims Way" thought provoking. If you are interested to read them yourself, let me know what you think. Ciao

It was a beautiful day, and a man was walking a dog along a gently rising road through a wood. He was suddenly struck by the fact that the dog he was walking had died many years previously, and he had no sensations of pain or breathlessness, just of a total sense of well being. I must have died he thought. A high wall began to skirt the road to his left, and to his right the countryside was bathed in a wonderful light. Around a bend a gate appeared in the wall and a man sat at a desk behind the gate.
The man approached the gate and said, "excuse me, do you have some water I feel thirsty" "Certainly, come in, there is a fountain to your left just within the gate." The man was about to step through the gate, and the man at the desk said, "Sorry Sir, this is heaven and animals are not permitted." "Oh!" said the man," this dog was my best friend for many years." "not permitted," said the gatekeeper, and the man continued along the road, which became steeper and stonier. At last they came to another gate which stood open, and beside it a man sat under a tree reading a book. " Do you have some water, for me and my dog". "yes come in, there is a stream below the bank" "Thank you said the man, by the way, where is this." "This is the gate to heaven." " But I have not long passed the gate to heaven down the hill" "Oh! you mean the golden gate in the big wall, that's the entrance to hell." " Don't you care that they claim to be the entrance to heaven."
NOT REALLY, THEY HELP TO FILTER OUT PEOPLE THAT ARE WILLING TO HELP THEMSELVES AND DISERT THEIR OLD FRIENDS.

Hi Joss, I have to admit I have never tried running Scottish dialect past the spell checker on account it would probably confuse it I don't know whether it is all correctly spelt, as it is the only bit of Rabbie Burns I can quote from memory, but only phonetically. I also have reservations about All religions, although I wish I had a faith, the trouble is that the more I have read about religions, the more doubts I end up having. I found more emotional comfort from the writings of Rudyard Kiplings poetry than religious books.
