Hi.... :)
"Eat to live, and not live to eat." Haha that's an epic quote thanks for visiting my page!!
One thing I liked to do when I lived in Hamilton was find a forest with a path in it and go for a walk. Usually nobody is there because everyone is shopping, working or watching TV inside. You only hear birds and the wind. It's perfect to relax.
Yes - I definitely like Nitro Microphone Underground! One of my friends is a hip-hop musician, so I became interested in that style of music a few years ago. He moved to Japan with his wife and lives in Gunma. I wanted to know if there were good Japanese hip hop groups, so I looked around on Youtube. I like "The Present 4 Real" and "Spend the Time." I can't understand the songs very well, but they have a good sound. In the future I think I can enjoy them more.
Thanks for mentioning those basic kanji to learn. I'll try to find a good book to learn from. I think I have to start at the same level as a small child. It's embarrassing because I read difficult books in English very often. However, here in Japan I can't read very well or speak to people properly. It's a good motivation to study.
Thanks for writing back. You're right - Canada can be a very nice place to live. Not every city is good, and there are many problems with crime and poverty, but if you like nature and open spaces with no people Canada is the best for it! If you do visit Canada, I recommend Vancouver, Toronto or Montreal. Each city has a different feeling to it, but all are very Canadian. If you want to see nature instead, Banff National Park is great. Alberta is just one huge open space, so it's easy to relax for a while.
My computer has Japanese language installed, so I can receive any message in Japanese. I can only read hiragana though. I need to study katakana and then start with kanji, but learning kanji seems like it will take me 20 years!

I see you are looking for some English practice. I'd be happy to help you improve your conversation. I also need some help learning Japanese. I try to learn from my girlfriend, but I don't want to speak like a woman :S
If you want to learn anything about Canada I can also tell you about it.
Cheers,
- Sean
